We know that it’s important for you to be welcomed to your new school community in a way that honours you, your child and the rest of your family. To this end, we work to provide you with a variety of opportunities to engage with our school community. After enrolment, this includes familiarisation sessions for you and your child. These are informal times when you and your child will be gently introduced to the routines of the school day; a gathering ritual, developmental play times, simple crafts, a visit to our church, outdoor games and visits to the adventure playground, and the opportunity to borrow from the library.
After familiarisation sessions, we invite your child to attend two orientation sessions with their teachers. At this time, parents are invited to enjoy a cuppa and to attend a session to provide you with ways to help your child transition to the school environment as smoothly as possible.
Of course, you’re also welcome to join in our school activities as well. Join us for Family Fun Day, our Science Fair, Art Show and our Carols Evening. Like and follow our Facebook Page. It all helps you to learn more about us, and to feel part of our community.
If your little one requires a slower, more gentle transition to school, speak to us and we can arrange more informal visits over an extended period up to the commencement of school. We’re keen to cater to the needs of all our students.
Over the holiday period, your child will receive a letter from their Holy Rosary buddy; an older student who will look out for them and work with them as they transition and grow in Prep. Experience tells us that these are indeed treasured relationships!
Beginning school is an exhausting process; so many new faces, new rooms, new activities! Our Preps commence school gradually, coming for a two hour session on the first two days. On their third day, they are joined by the rest of the school. Throughout February our Preps take each Wednesday as a rest day. Our OSHC program operates on this day should you require this service.
