Giving to our Community

Holy Rosary School is an important part of the wider Kensington community. Many local organisations and businesses have formed strong ties with our school and hundreds of locals support the school’s regular community and fund-raising activities. In return, we encourage our students and their families to engage with our local community.

We value active engagement with a number of local community groups to enhance student learning and to allow us to give to the community in which we live. Our students have given their time, talents and resources in a variety of ways including:  Our Lady of All Nations Parish,  donating food items for the food pantry at Kensington Neighbourhood House, visiting the residents at Lynch’s Bridge, and donating goods for Christmas hampers for St Vincent de Paul.

We recognise our charity should also embrace our wider community and to this end we also support charities including Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion, Breast Cancer Network Australia and Muscular Dystrophy Australia. Our Year 5/6 students also coordinate a Christmas market to support a local charity of their choice. This has included RSPCA, Royal Melbourne Hospital, Kids Helpline and Make a Wish Foundation.

We also participate in activities with our Catholic feeder schools; St Aloysius College North Melbourne , Simonds College West Melbourne and Academy of Mary Immaculate. We also enjoy a positive relationship withKensington Community Children’s Cooperative
